Tabitha and Isobel were out showing Ashford Valley Pony Club how to do it Western this week. In front of a large group of children aged from 5yrs to 18yrs and their instructors, the girls demonstrated speed control, spins and lead changes. After each manoeuver there was a large round of applause and in some cases gasps of amazement. There was no opportunity to run and stop on the fibre sand surface but at the end there was a long question and answer time. Finally the horses were swamped by the children all wanting to pat them and inspect their tack. All in all it was a resounding success; the girls conducted the demo brilliantly and were excellent ambassadors for our sport. They have already been booked to do another one! Next stop for the duo, joined by Fi Howard, is the FEI European Young Riders Reining Championships in Mannerbio, Italy on September 12th. Fingers well crossed for that! |
